Why are people embracing superstitious ideas in the 21 century?

It was always the elites that led the enlightenment and likewise. It was the lower cles that did not. The biggest thing is that now the lower cles are self aware and actually have access to media, so you see much more of them. The elites are not generally consuming of TOO much nonsense (though every culture group gets it's share)
