Why are there so many atheists in the religion and spirituality section?

Isn't religion and spirituality directly against atheist theology? And why do so many of the atheists seem so cynical and seem like they want to degrade people for their beliefs? I don't sit on Y!A and seek out atheists to attack their beliefs. I mean if you don't believe in religion and spirituality then aren't you in the wrong section? Your kind of contradicting your beliefs or lack there of by being here.
