Co-signer on a new car?

Okay lets say i have no credit or bad credit and my boyfriend has good credit, and I want to buy a new car or finaince it. If my boyfriend co-signs and than in a year or two i build my credit to be good, is it possible to take him off so its only me? I don't want to push him into my stuff. I only need him till i can build my credit and than i want it only on me. So is it possible?
